Crim is a character designed by my friend and frequent commission client, WorldReader. I first had the opportunity to draw this miniscule man in 2022 and have done so a couple of times since then, enough to warrant giving him his own profile and background information here!

Crim Carbion's purpose was arranged long before he was born: His human father agreed to a deal with a powerful witch for an heir from the strongest tree nymph, in exchange for that child to also serve the nymph as her vulture, and eventually come to the witch's rescue in her time of need. Half living in the real world as his father's heir apparent, half living in the fae realm as an agent to his mother, it's no surprise that Crim was unmoored and distant in both. When his father married a human woman, Crim was neither surprised nor resentful of her, but then his father unexpectedly died of a mysterious "illness" no fae magic could cure. A year passed, maybe two. Crim would spend more time in the forest, evading the jagged words of his step-mother and her son. Then just as things began to calm, he burned as the step-mother trapped him inside the mansion and set it ablaze!

But his real mother would not allow him to break his promise. She pulled him from the fire, spun him glass legs with which to walk again, and sent him on his quest to save the fearsome witch. And what a quest it was! The tree that was a vulture became a wolf, found romance, and attained more power than he had ever before.
