Matching Rank & Surpassing Rank

The "rank" of a set of cards is the sum of all its numbered values, and a set of cards is said to "surpass" another set in rank if its combined numbered values are greater. Together, larger sets of numbered cards can reach a combined rank no individual card could have; Note, however, that even they can technically never "surpass" a face card in rank, since face cards have no rank. For the same reason, face cards can in turn not match or surpass the rank of anything else.
