There was a lot of back and forth before I eventually settled on Finnelan's final design. One big part of it was that for a long time, my players weren't 100% settled on what they would play, and since I wanted my GM-NPC to complement their party well, I had to switch plans a couple of times. So what you're seeing here, and even in some of the later artworks of him, is far from what he ended up looking like when I finalized the design, but there are some cool things here that I'm happy with and which made it into the final version in some way or other. Overall I'm very pleased with how this character design process went.
